  Tipton County EDC Annual Meeting

Indiana Secretary of Commerce & IEDC President
Sserves as Guest Speaker at 20th Annual Meeting

Approximately 100 guests attended the 20th Annual Meeting of the Tipton County EDC on June 4, 2007 at the Tipton Elks. Nathan Feltman, Indiana Secretary of Commerce and CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) served as keynote speaker for the event.

Prior to the festivities, the board of directors held election of officers and directors during the business meeting. The following directors were re-elected for 2-year terms - Jackie Cardin, John Graham, Don Havens, Dave Quigley, and Joe VanBibber. Jason Hare was nominated and elected to serve, replacing Stephen Smith who recently resigned. Hare's position represents one of several directors who represent agriculture/business/commerce and industry. James Powell requested he be moved to emeritus status, thus leaving one of two financial institution representative positions vacant. The governance committee nominated an individual to fill the vacant position upon their acceptance of the nomination. The board will vote on this action during their July meeting. Elected directors each serve two-year terms. Officers re-elected to serve one-year terms are James Ashley, Chair; Warren Baird, 1st Vice Chair; John Graham, 2nd Vice Chair; Dave Reep, Secretary; Ron Warren, Assistant Secretary; and Jackie Cardin, Treasurer.

Each year the TCEDC Awards Committee receives nominations from the community for 4 prestigious awards that are presented during our annual meeting to area businesses, individuals, and groups who have enriched our community through their contributions, dedication and leadership. Additionally each year, our 5 and 10-year investors are recognized for their steadfast support of our efforts. This year the following 10-year investors received awards - AcraLine Products, Inc. and Lauth Property Group.

During the course of the evening, awards were presented to four distinguished area businesses and individuals whose service to the community deserves the honor.  Those awards included:
