Tipton is a member of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), a statewide joint action agency, offering a 954MW power system that delivers low cost, reliable wholesale power to its 40 municipal members. IMPA’s generating capacity and agreement with its municipal members includes reserves and planning for growth. Tipton’s peak demand is 23MW.

Duke Energy is Indiana’s largest electric utility serving 69 of the 92 counties and is one of the largest investor owned utility companies in the nation. Cinergy’s Economic Development network is committed to business growth in Indiana and provides exceptional energy services, competitive rates, and technological assistance. Cinergy serves the energy needs of 1.4 million electric customers and 471,000 gas customers with a retail service area that spans 25,000 square-miles in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

American Electric Power (AEP) is one of the largest investor-owned utilities in the United States, serving parts of 11 states and 4.9 millions customers. Its U.S. customers are served by one of the world’s largest transmission and distribution systems. System wide there are more than 38,000 circuit miles of transmission lines and more than 186,000 miles of distribution lines. AEP provides power to eastern portions of Tipton County.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas service to the majority of Tipton County is provided by VECTREN Energy (a $2 billion corporation).

Kokomo Gas and Fuel Company serves the natural gas needs of customers in the northern portion of Tipton County.

Telecommunications
High-speed Internet access is available. DSL and T-1 lines (fiber optic) are offered through TDS TELECOM and cable internet access from Insight Communications. For more information on services offered through these companies, click on their name.

Cable service is provided by Insight Communications (Nasdaq: ICCI), the 9th largest cable operator in the United States. Insight specializes in a variety of state-of-the-art entertainment, educational and information services tailored to each community.
